I just wanted to know what some people thought about rats as pets? i got 2 males they are really cool and have been easy to train, and no matter what you do to them they dont bite the most they do is squeek and push your hands away (they are strong for being little lol) i plan on getting 2 more soon. what are your feelings towards rats as pets? What do you think of rats as pets?
BETTERTHANU: Owning rats makes someone look poor? Judging people based on their pet makes YOU look STUPID. Only people with brain cells should be answering questions here.

To the asker:

Rats are great pets. They are smart, clean, and very very entertaining. As a child my mother let me have every rodent imaginable, but no rats because she was afraid of them. Consequently, I have been bitten by every rodent imaginable....but never by a rat! As an adult, I decided to get my first rats, and it just kind of snowballed from there. I currently own eleven rats *5 boys and 6 girls* (Nicco, Master Splinter, Goose, Patrick, Tucker, Sanka, Sunny, Gabby, Chloe, Phoebe, and Daisy). They are like small dogs, in my opinion. Several of my friends who said they couldn't stand rats have since changed their minds after meeting mine. When I need cheering up, all I have to do is go to my rat room and see those little noses twitching and eyes lighting up at the crinkle of the treat bag. Each one has its own little personality and I love just watching them show it. I could sit with them for hours and observe their activities (or in the case of the boys, lack thereof). Rats are the best rodents, in my opinion, and I plan to make it a point to never be without a rat for as long as I live! LONG LIVE THE FANCY RAT!!What do you think of rats as pets?
Rats are wonderful pets. They're social, intelligent, entertaining and very loving. My rat lived to be 9 years old, and she was very special.

They don't smell bad when cleaned regularly and are very hardy and generally easy to look after. Rats are excellent pets for people with limited room, and are a lot more affordable than cats or dogs! They're handy for eating scraps from dinner too!
I really do like rats. My dad had a pet rat when he was a kid and he tells me some stories about what that was like. As for me, I've never had one, but I do have guinea pigs that I love to death (I think guinea pigs look a little like tailless, chubby rats, lol). Someday I'll have a rat, they seem like wonderful pets! ^_^
i love my rats. i've currently got 6 males, and am getting another one in about 2 weeks

they're very sweet, attentive, and always want to be with you

i've had other small animals, hamsters, gerbils, mice (my first pet mouse was the best pet i've ever had though) and all in all, nothing is more satisfying than a bunch of ratties clawing to get out of their cage when you get home so they can be with you

they learn their names, do tricks, the works

i think they're amazing pets =)

yeh i like rats =]

i have 2 females called Akira and Ebony, but they love my sister and hate me, when im the one that cleans there cage every other day and feeds them!! =[

i cant wait to get males but i cant untill my girls have passed =[

i think that EVERYONE should own a rat atleast once in their life time =]
Rats are very friendly and are very smart, to smart as these guys learn quickly how to get ouf cage if not careful. It's the tail I think that throws people off of them, Hamsters are more popular but hamsters will bite.
for people who can't afford proper pets like puppies and kittens.

can you imagine -

'what's your pet'

'i have a pregnant rat'

'oh... i have a puppy. sorry'.

see, it makes you look poor
I had hamsters and gerbils before and they were ok, although a little stink but I don't know about rats. I found them a little ugly.
I love rats! I just got 2 males also. Although they haven't been that easy to train so far, they are super cool pets!
