I'm planning to do a project on diabetic rats. please sugesst me some good topics?

i'm a PG bio chemistry final year student . i'm searching for a project topic but i couldn't get the best . so i plead you to give me a hand to get the best topic . please do help meI'm planning to do a project on diabetic rats. please sugesst me some good topics?
First we have to know how your test rats will be rendered diabetic. Will they have any beta cell function? If the rats have no beta cell function then you can only study Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus.

Second and more important; what do YOU want to know about diabetes? Scienticic studies are not done to fulfill a requirement for a class. Scientific studies should be designed to answer a specific question, preferrably one that the investigator is interested in.I'm planning to do a project on diabetic rats. please sugesst me some good topics?
How about doing an ultrasound in a diabetic rat and finding the amnionic fliud? Or the fetus or the fetus heart rates in the diabetic rats? ha ha!!

take the rat to the ultrasound department!!

might have to make an appointment for this one!!

now this is a challenge isnt it!!??

see if you can use the aquison new machine while your at it!! ha ha!!

maybe get a bio on the diabetic rat! ha ha!!

have fun on this one!! love to see it!!

Ha ha!!!!!!!!!!!
Wouldn't diabetic rats be your topic?

I guess you could do a study in what foods are good or bad for them or what doses of insulin work for them.
You could do a project where you deprive the diabetic rats of food to monitor the rate and effects of Ketoacidosis (when the liver breaks down fat and proteins in response to a percieved need for respiratory substrate) It's a very common result of untreated type 1 diabetes me. As a result you have a large amount of ketone bodies in the blood which reduces the blood's pH

Or you could explore the idea of cardiovascular disease brought on by diabetes in rats versus non diabetic rats that were fed the same diet. (you could measure the progression of cardiovascular disease by monitoring the pulse rate of circulating blood, or blood pressure)

I hope this helps, best of Luck!
You could do an experiment which should have results that are likely to be useful to people with diabetes. I've read that nutrition can play a big role in controlling and even curing diabetes. How does good nutrition/bad nutrition affect the prevalence or severity of diabetes? You need some way to ';measure'; diabetes. Maybe just have 2 groups of rats - one with good diet, one high in calories, and you check their diabetic health as they age. You might also want to pick a specific ingredient such a chromium picolinate, which has been shown to be helpful in treating diabetes. Or you might do a study on how the addition of protein isolates in the diet affects diabetes in rats.
Rats, alcohol, and driving. Good or not so good if you're diabetic?
