How big can rats get?

like everyone else said for a average rat..... although there is a breed of rat in africa that is the size of a house cat. they have started to train them to detect mines in the fields. since they are smaller than a dog, they wont set off a mine and kill everyone. and themselves. after the fine the mines the trainers place flags where the rat detects the mine. when they get a area secure they set it off so the people around the villages can start to use the fields and not be afraid they will get blown up like others.How big can rats get?
Rat can get from 7-14 inches long if we are talking about domesticated rats. I have not seen any over 3lbs, and that a very fat rat. Rats make wonderful pets, but they are not for everyone. Many other animals ';bite and chew furniture'; like dogs and cats and rabbits. However rats can be litter trained quite effectivly life a cat and do not normally urinate outside of their cage if they are not spayed or neutered. any urinating outside the cage is a marking behavior, or you have left the rat away from its litter area for too long. It is highly reccomended to neuter your rat to prevent ovarian cancer, male territorial behavior and cancer.How big can rats get?

Well most rats can get up to one foot long but most are around 7 inches long. Personally i woulldnt want to get a rat becuase they bite stuff like furniture and they rune carpets but, if you really want one then go right ahead!
