Are these good rats to have?

Petco has female dumbo rats and male blue rats. Are these types of rats good pets? Please let me know. Thanks. Are these good rats to have?
yeh but the only difference is appearance, so just get whatever you think is cuter and make sure you get 2 or more cuz they get depressed on their ownAre these good rats to have?
A female rat is generally more energetic, smells fresher, and does not scent mark as much as a male does. Dumbos have ears on the side of their head, rather than the top. Blue is just a color. None of these things are indicative of a better or worse rat. If you insist on buying a rat from a pet store, than make sure to buy 2 same sex rats. Whether male or female is a very personal choice. There is not one better or easier than the other.
All rats make great pets! Just be careful. Pet store rats are often sick. If you hear even one sneeze from any rat do not buy from that store. Also if the store houses males and females and you get girls, you will end up with a lot more rats than you bargained for. Rats are sexually mature at 5 weeks old and your chance of getting a female that is not pregnant is slim to none. One more thing, make sure that whatever sex you choose you get at least 2. Rats are extremely social and keeping a single rat goes against their nature and is quite cruel.
First off, you never want to mix genders. Same sex pairs or more only. They can have up to (and potentially more than) 20 kittens in a litter. If either of the rats of ';High Whites'; the litter is at a huge risk of dying painfully. There are too many healthy rats waiting for homes in rescues already - Petco supports rat mills. Search Google for reputable rodent rescues in your area. They receive veterinary care and love prior to being adopted.

The ears of a rat and coat type of a rat don't mean anything. It's physical just like some of us have blond hair and blue eyes while others are born with an olive complexion and green eyes. Every rat has an individual personality and no dumbo eared or rex coated rat should be valued higher than a standard ear and coat in any way.

Female rats are more active and though they be little love bugs as well, they usually just stop by for a quick scratch on their travels until they get sleepy. A female's urine is often less irritating to someone who has allergies. Spaying your female rat can eliminate the possibility of uterine infections and reduce the risk of developing tumors; they're notorious for tumors of all kinds. Females are fertile at 4 weeks and need to be removed from males immediately. Young or back to back pregnancies can cause death.

In their old age males can lose mobility in their hind end and, being less flexible, develop penis plugs when they can't clean themselves. They're affectionate and more laid back, willing to sit happily in your lap. Males shouldn't have anything citrus related as it can cause cancer. Between 3-5 months they hit puberty and may or may not display aggression that can be fixed with a neuter and love. If you find them stinky or that a rat has alot of buck grease, a neuter can also help with that.

You'll make several vet visits during their lifespan because rats aren't healthy pets, especially respiratory wise. Bedding, diet, and habitat are fairly specific for a healthy rat. Visit some of the links below to learn more! Don't forget that a rat needs a same gender companion or they can potentially fall ill or become aggressive.

I hope that helps you make an informed decision!
Not at the same time. You don't want them to breed as you don't know about genetic conditions that can be passed on to offspring. I would suggest the males for a better chance at a calmer pet that bonds well with you, or females for a more active pet. Either would be great, but be sure to get two females or two males.
