How can i get my rats to eat less?

is there anyway i can get my rats to eat a bit less? they have a cats water dish for their food bowl, which i fill up in the morning, but by the next day all the food is gone. it only takes them 2 weeks to eat one bag of food. How can i get my rats to eat less?
What are you feeding them? Seed mixes that contain things like sunflower seeds and corn can be sort of like ';junk food'; for rats. They'll overeat and pick out the best tasting - usually fattiest or sugariest - bits.

Try feeding them a diet based on lab blocks. They're made to be a complete diet on their own. Rats like them well enough, and they'll eat only as much as they need to. Harlan Teklad makes high-quality rat diets. How can i get my rats to eat less?
Hi if they are still young, and not overweight then they do need plenty of food, rats have fast metabollic rate, fast dijgestion, a full bag a fortnight does sound alot, but if they are eating it all (not stashing any) and their weights O K I don't see what can be done, My 8 males go through a bag of pre-mix and a bag of nuggets per 4 / 6 weeks...But the bulk of their diet is what we have, but they aren't the greedies, and I never find any stash........2 things to try...give more fresh foods like your leftovers ect..or try a different mix...see if its more filling,
I would say get them a complete food so that they can't pick out all of the good bits.

Check they aren't hoarding it anywhere in the cage, clean it thoroughly once every week-2 weeks and take out all the old food.

Have they got enough water? Our rats used to eat more when they got dry or in hot weather.

Put in fruit and vag as this is more filling but good for hem...ours loved carrots!!
This may sound like a stupid question, but are you sure that the rats aren't just hoarding all the food in their bedding? I know that the rats I'm look after atm do this - within 15 minutes of being fed their bowls are empty and they have buried the lot underneath the bedding. If you move some of the bedding, you may find massive stores.
give them less food at one time. How long do you expect a full bowl should last them? If you expected it to last more than a day, you have to understand that the rats will eat all the food provided as soon as possible. you need to figure out what is the amount of food required per day and stick to that.
I hate to state the obvious, but surely if you want them to eat less, you should feed them less.

Rats are animals that eat what is avaliable to them, because as a species, they do not know how long they'll have to go between meals.
It is a simple sulution, give them less food! Start with a little less food every day until you reach the amount you want to feed them!
I would say just feed them less. Hand feed them.
in my mind it is simple just dont give them as much food sorry it is just sorta funny, it seems simple to me.
you dont they eat until they are full. maybe slimfast jk jk please dont!!
hand feed them
stop feeding them so much!!
dont feed them as much

about 2 table spoons a day
If they aren't fat I wouldn't worry. If they are eating it all chances are you are feeding them either the right amount or too little. How long does it take for them to eat a bowl full? Most rat keepers feed enough to last 22 hours. Make sure they also get plenty of time out of their cage too.

I wouldn't recommend buying store bought food, however most rat food is sold in 1kg bags, so 2 weeks is perfectly normal so I wouldn't worry.

I'd cut out any cereals high in sugar though, and replace with low sugar/low salt cereals. Dried pasta is a good addition too.

Most rat owners now feed their rats some sort of variation on these two diets:
