i think i would have to make my own, a smaller version. Could i teach my rats to use one of these?
Definitely! Rats are very smart, and are willing to learn almost anything to get at food. I would recommend leaving the panels open at first, so the rats can see the food and get them used to knowing the food is there. Every time you have them out with the game make sure there is food in it and they will get used to the fact that food comes out of it. Then slide the panels just halfway over so the rats will still see and smell the food but will have to move the panels a bit to get at it. Once they are consistently doing that you can cover the food completely and they should figure it out!

yes! it is a great idea! and yes making a smaller version is a good idea to or other wise the rat wont be strong anough to push it open!
It will be a great thing to do for your rat it is like a game but your rat will learn very easily a new trick!
I have 2 rats and i never thought of doing that!

Rats are small and very inquisitive. My guess is that you could easily play ';hide and seek'; with different items. You could use toys designed for very small dogs, or make your own with plastic cups and a tray. try it out and play!

Yeah if you made it out of like cardboard or rat safe things i wouldn't see why they couldn't figure it out.
