Pet Rat - do pet rats carry any diseases that is harmful to humans at all?

my rat loves to kiss me on the lipsPet Rat - do pet rats carry any diseases that is harmful to humans at all?
That is so precious!!! I used to kiss our rats on the lips, and if they weren't in the mood for it, they'd squint, put their little hands out, and turn away. It was so cute! Pet rats are not the same as the disease-carrying vermin found in the wild. I think you could give each other a cold or something, but otherwise you are perfectly fine letting your little darling kiss you! Adorable!Pet Rat - do pet rats carry any diseases that is harmful to humans at all?
i...............do not know
The only likely disease is ringworm, and if she doesn't have it she can't pass it onto you.
Very very little that your rat could give you. Your rat could catch strep pneumonia from you (not strep throat) which is rare.

You can give each other ringworm (someone has to have it first), but really not much else.

Enjoy your rat's kisses :)
Pet rats and their humans can occationally share diseases, but for the most part your rat--which is living in a very enclosed environment, is much more likely to catch something from you than the other way around. You're more likely to catch something nasty from a younger sibling or child than you are from your rat.
