How do u stop a cat bringing dead rats in the house?

When a cat brings a dead animal to it's owner(s) from it's hunt, it is bringing back a gift for you. When you take it away to get rid of it, it thinks you have accepted the offering. Technically, you should leave it where is is for a few days to show you don't want it, but you probably don't want to keep treading on decomposing rats while yr cat figures things out. Perhaps try leaving the 'gift' outside where yr cat can see it?How do u stop a cat bringing dead rats in the house?
hey, at least its dead rats! my cat brings in alive animalsHow do u stop a cat bringing dead rats in the house?
You can't. The dead animals your cat brings you are gifts. My cat brings birds, squirrel, snakes, all kinds of stuff and leaves them at our front door. He does it because he loves us.
Believe it or not, cats do this as a token of their love for you. They are bringing you ';gifts';. Notice they don't eat them, just kill them and bring them to you.
Either do not let the can IN the house, or don't let the cat OUT of the house.
Set traps outside of the house. Perhaps this will eliminate the number of available rats.

Otherwise, you'll just have to deal with it. Cats bring their owners presents, such as mice, birds, small rabbits, and rats. It's just the nature of cats.
Keep the door closed.
Wow that is a tough question. I would seriously phone my vet and ask he/she. Your cat better not be hiding them b/c that would really suck!
Its much better than the live copperhead snakes mine bring in our house.
Besides keeping the cat outside, you can't really, its a gift, accept it. One xmas when i took a box from under the tree to give to my dad, there was a dead mouse on it, it was a gift from the cats to us, just their way of saying thanks, i mean they don't exactly have the money to go out and buy proper gifts for us.
get rid of the live rats and the cat will stop giving you it's gifts
don't let the cat in the house
well you have to be honest with it and show the cat that you truly hate this. When this happens next time make sure the cat gets a good spray of water on its face . a bit of yelling, obvious annoyance. and make sure it sees you throw away the rat.

keep at it. she'll figure it out.
Well, first of all, we know that your cat loves you because these are gifts in cat language. You could a) tell them that you don't want the gift by throwing it ( eg. into your neghbours yard) in eyeshot of them or b) get them a very realistic and durable toy mouse and they will give that to you instead.

P.S. that woman who suggested that you punish it dosen't no that cats don't take that kind of treatmant kindly!
i disagree with punishing the cat. cuz the cat isnt going to understand what it is being punished for. especially when the cat is doing something that is its nature. you dont want ur cat to start fearing u and lose its trust.

p.s. never spray a cat with water on its face, cuz water should never go in a cat's ears!
