When my rat is out on the bed or in my hand why does she make chatting noises?
Is this a bad sign?Rats making a noise is this ok?
If it sounds like she's griding her teeth together, then there are three reasons for that:
Rats will grind their teeth when they're in pain. Rats will also ground their teeth when they're under stress. And last, they'll grind their teeth when they're relaxed.
It's nothing to worry about if she's in an environment that won't stress her (does she have a cage-mate? She might be stressed over that), and it seems to me she's in a stress-free, pain-free environment when she grinds her teeth. So, she's probably just relaxed.Rats making a noise is this ok?
Does it sound kinda like a helicopter? If so, it's nothing serious, it's their way of telling you their stories. :) (it's them grinding their teeth together)
If it's a wheezy sound when they breathe, it could be a respiratory issue. Try using a dust-free bedding and taking your rat to the vet.
If it's a squeaking noise, it's often a sound of them being in pain. So be gentle with them and see a vet as soon as possible
She's bruxing, it means she's a happy rat, well done

Ask the person you bought him off.. or the pet shop, they should know!
Try and answer my q about the army thanks!!
my rat chatters his teeth and then grooms himself its his way of ';brushing his teeth';
she is probably happy. rats sometimes brux (grind their teeth) when they are happy. my rats do it alot
i'd say she just grinding her teeth, this generally mean shes happy.
